Region 8 seminar tackles public sector unionism
Tacloban City (October 13) -- Public Sector Unionism will be the main topic of the seminar which will be conducted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on November 15 – 16, 2006 at the Leyte Park Hotel, Tacloban City.
Assistant Regional Director Marilyn Taldo of the Civil Service Commission Regional Office 8 announced that the seminar will include topics designed to make the Public Sector Unions in the various government agencies be more responsive to the needs of the stakeholders which include the management and rank and file.
Among the topics which will be discussed, Atty. Taldo said, are the Role of the Public Sector Unionism in the agency’s personnel mechanisms; Policies on Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA); and Steps in CNA Preparations and Registration.
ARD Taldo said that the seminar was earlier scheduled on September 28-29. However, this schedule was cancelled for failure to muster the required number of participants to comprise a course.
ARD Taldo expressed optimism that those agencies which have not submitted their nominees in the earlier schedule will be able to nominate their participants this time. She is enjoining the various agency heads to attend the seminar together with the officers and members of the agency’s employees’ association.
She said that a training fee of One Thousand Eight Hundred Pesos (P1,800.00) per participant shall be collected to defray expenses for meals, venue, handouts and other incidental training expenses.
She advised the participating agencies that in case of payment of registration fee through check, the same should be made payable to the Civil Service Commission, Regional Office 8 in Palo, Leyte.
Interested parties may fill up the nomination forms which are available at the Civil Service Commission Office and submit the same not later than November 10, 2006. Only participants who have confirmed their attendants either through submission of nomination forms or through phone call will be informed if the seminar will push through or rescheduled.
