August merchandise exports rise 21.3% yr-on-yr
Quezon City (13 October) -- MERCHANDISE exports in August rose 21.3 percent from a year earlier to $4.260 billion, beating market expectations, as shipments of electronics posted double-digit growth, data from the National Statistics Office showed.
The data also showed strong growth in exports of petroleum products and metals.
Electronics exports increased 14.7 percent year-on-year to $2.694 billion, accounting for 63.2 percent of total receipts for the month.
In the first eight months of the year, merchandise exports jumped 16.9 percent to $30.954 billion. (PIA) [top]
