Commentary: PGMA’s response to terrorism

Koronadal, South Cotabato (14 October) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has instructed the PNP & AFP to team up in the probe of the series of bombings in Central Mindanao, particularly in the Makilala, which killed at least six people and wounded 29 others.

In a statement this morning, OPPAP Secretary Atty. Jesus G. Dureza appealed to the public to stay calm and fair in treating the bombing incidents including those that took place in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat Province and Cotabato City.

He said, “Let’s give the proper authorities the opportunity to investigate the incidents and wait for their findings before we come out of our own.”

Dureza was apparently referring to the accusation of North Cotabato governor Emmanuel Piñol that the bombing in Makilala Cotabato province was the handiwork of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the quick denial of the MILF’s spokesperson Eid kabalu that their Front has nothing to do the said bombings.
