PGMA pours 15 multi-cabs, motorcycles to East Samar

By Alicia Nicart & Sammy Candido

Tacloban City (14 October) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, through the efforts of Governor Ben Evardone granted 15 units of multi-cabs, 30 motorcycles distributed to selected municipalities and barangays.

Done simultaneously with the commemoration of the province’s 15th year of its Local Government Code, the turn-over was witnessed by Governor Ben Evardone, Vice-Governor Leander Geli some mayors and barangay captains.

In a message delivered by Gov. Evardone, he said he was happy to inform the Eastern Samareños, that throughout the country, only Eastern Samar acquired such a number of cabs and motorcycles, while other parts of the country were only given two multi-cabs and five motorcycles. He added that through his effort, Presidential Social Action Fund with PAGCOR granted the resource requirements of the said vehicles. Further, Evardone is hopeful, these rides will aid the towns policemen in cases of emergency and hot pursuit operations against criminals.

In the past, PNP personnel would complain for lack of mobility, aside from being outnumbered. With these assistance coming their way, SPO1 Amado Anire of Borongan, PNP said, will spell a difference.

Of the 23 municipalities of E. Samar , 21 municipalities were benefited except for Maslog and Jipapad.

After the distribution, the signing of the Deed of Donation followed, where the LGU beneficiaries and Governor Evardone signed the documents and witnessed by Vice Governor Geli. (PIA-Eastern Samar) [top]
