AFP First Lady dialogues with 8th ID Ladies Club, donates medicines
Tacloban City (October 14) -- Dr. Lorna Vasquez Esperon, the first lady of the AFP Chief of Staff, together with the wives of other senior officers of the AFP, recently visited the Home of the Star Troopers based at Camp Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar.
Dr. Esperon’s visit to the command was warmly welcomed by no less than the Commanding General 8ID, Maj. Gen. Rodrigo F Maclang AFP, other officers, enlisted Personnel, Civilian employees as well as the 8ID Ladies Club.
The AFP first lady brought with her donation of assorted medicines to Camp Lukban Station Hospital. These assorted medicines will benefit the soldiers assigned in the Field and Post Units including their dependents. These medicines, which came from donations abroad, are augmentation to the medicines regularly provided by the Philippine Army.
During her short visit, Dr. Esperon also met and had dialogue with officers and members of 8ID Ladies Club. During the dialogue, she encouraged the ladies to continuously help their husbands and assist in supporting their respective families by engaging in livelihood projects.
She also turned-over assorted medicines worth twenty five thousand pesos (P25,000.00) intended for the “Botika sa Barangay” project of President Gloria Arroyo to the 8ID Ladies Club.
The visit did not only bring a respite from the normal activities at the Camp, it only inspired the troops and encouraged them to continue with their noble task of peacekeeping and upholding the rule of law.
Dr. Esperon’s visit also inspired the officers and members of the Ladies Club do to all they could to help their husbands and to do what they could to augment their family income.
Her visit was completed with a tour of Camp Vicente R. Lukban, the Station hospital including its facilities such as, X-Ray, Laboratory, Emergency Room and PHIL Health Offices which are all located inside the hospital. (PIA 8) [top]
