PGMA's visit brings hope to the people of Samar Islands

Tacloban City (October 15) -- President Gloria Arroyo will deliver a message of hope for the people of the Samar Provinces.

This is how the forthcoming visit of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to Calbayog City is optimistically being viewed.

During the coordinative meeting held in Calbayog Saturday, Mayor Mel Senen Sarmiento said that the President has done a lot for Samar. It is about time she herself personally tells this to the people of Samar. "It is high time the President tells the people what really is happening," Mayor Sarmiento quipped.

The people's excitement for the coming visit could be felt with all the many preparations being done in the City. At the Senator Avelino Park fronting the Calbayog City Hall, people from all sectors are busy dressing their respective booths for the Agro-Industrial Fair which will take place during the President's visit on October 16.

Among the agricultural products are the giant root crops called palawan which is best eaten with lechon, karlang, butig, organic vegetables and many others. Asked why the producers do not want to sell their products yet, they told PIA that they want the President to see their products first.
