OWWA to establish migrants’ desk in Nueva Vizcaya
Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (16 October) -- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration(OWWA) is set to establish migrants’ desk in the province to provide assistance for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) here.
Recently, governor Luisa Cuaresma signed a memorandum of agreement with OWWA administrator Marianito Roque which provides proper training of local government personnel regarding the programs and projects of their agency to help families of OFWs abroad.
During a recent visit in the province, Roque praised Cuaresma for her continuing support in the institutionalization of the Assistance Council for Vizcayanos Overseas Workers (ACVOW) which has been assisting OFWs in the province.
Roque also cited the ACVOW during the height of the Israel-Lebanon conflict where many OFWs received assistance from the council.
With their family welfare officers, Roque said they will serve and act on the problems of the OFWs besetting their problems and their families in the province. They will also provide consultations with the OFWs’ families.
According to Cuaresma, the OWWA’s proposal for a migrant’s desk is a big boost to the efforts of the ACVOW personnel in the province since they will be taught with proper guidelines and procedures hand in hand with the OWWA officers inorder to immediately respond to the needs and problems of OFWs and their families.
“With this project, OFWs and their families will be assured with our joint assistance so that they can have close communication while their problems are being addressed,” Cuaresma said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
