Kalinga allots P1M for sports events
TABUK, Kalinga (16 October) -- In preparation for the upcoming Provincial Meet and the Cordillera Administrative Regional Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet in 2007, the provincial government has allotted P1 million pesos in this year's supplemental budget.
The funds will be used for the procurement of sports facilities and equipments, program and ground preparation of the sports complex, which is recently named the Kalinga Provincial Sports Complex through Resolution No. 2006-171 which Board Member Antonio Bakilan authored.
In an interview, Bakilan, Committee Chairman on Sports and Education, disclosed that to save money and time for this twin sports events sports facilities to be used during the provincial meet this year will also be utilized for the CARAA meet scheduled on March next year which the province is hosting.
Bakilan assured that all needed facilities and sports equipments are now ready for the provincial meet. With this development, he said the province is also more or less 60% ready with the facilities for the CARAA.
He also informed that concerned agencies and committees are now planning and strategizing to prevent problems, which were previously observed during past provincial and CARAA meets. (ggd/PIA-Kalinga) [top]
