Tabuk honors senior citizens

TABUK, Kalinga (16 October) -- For giving their best despite their physical incapacity and old age, Senior Citizens (SC), who are still active in the development process of the province and the nation as a whole were honored and given recognition during the celebration of Elderly Week held on October 8 at the Tabuk Senior Citizens Center.
Tabuk Mayor Camilo Lammawin Jr., in his message, underscored the senior citizens wisdom of age and how they have kept the knots of unity tied between village tribes, the breadth of peace felt among people, and the wisdom of their advices practiced within the systems.
In Kalinga, senior citizens are still considered a pivotal force where most decisions in the barangay and village level are anchored.
Dr. Priscilla Daligdig, MFSCAT Vice President urged the elderly group to be model to the young so that the “jewel of their thoughts and deeds could be inherited by the young and become a legacy that once in their twilight years, they did what is best for the generation in this modern age”.
The theme of this year’s celebration is ’Nakatatanda Kaagapay sa Pagkakaisa at Kapayapaan”.
During the celebrations, the senior citizens also thank the Tabuk Local Government Unit under the leadership of Lammawin for giving them a mini shade¯ infront of the Senior Citizens Center. (PIA-Kalinga) [top]
