Tagalog News: DOH, UNICEF, WHO magsasagawa ng mass deworming today

Davao City (17 October) -- UNICEF, WHO, DOH and the city government led by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will lead today's (October 17) Pre-schoolers Health week Garantisadong Pambata mass deworming for Soil-Transmitted Helminthiasis (STH) at SIR Matina gym Brgy 76-A, Davao City.
The mass deworming is in partnership with the Davao City Health Office including guests and partner agencies from the UNICEF, Dr, Marious Gotink, chief, Health Nutrition Section; WHO representative Dr. Raman Velayudhan; DOH Undersecretary Ethelyn P. Nieto; Davao City Health Officer Dr. Josephine Villafuerte; and DOH XI Center for Health Development Davao region Director Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial.
DOH assistant director Salvador Estrera said the Pre-schoolers Health Week or commonly known as Garantisadong Pambata (GP) will be celebrated on October 16-20, 2006 and part of the activity is the launching of the mass deworming.
This year Garantisadong Pambata is promoting "4 in 1 Kalusugan" for children 0-5 years old (0-71 months); Bitamina A, Bakuna, Brestfeeding and Purga sa Bulate.
On top of this, the usual GP services are still advocated like oral health care, salt testing for iodine, appropriate complementary feeding, newborn screening and other related activities on health issues. (PIA-XI) [top]
