Isabela forges sisterhood with Hawaii
ILAGAN, Isabela (17 October) -- The province of Isabela recently forged a sisterhood agreement with Hawaii in a bid to strengthen their relationships on trade, business, agriculture, education, socio-economic, cultural and political aspects.
Vice governor Ramon "Monching" Reyes said the twinning agreement with Hawaii was formally signed in May this year after governor Grace Padaca made strong representations with the government officials of Hawaii during the former's visit last year.
He said governor Padaca also discussed the matter with Hawaii governor Linda lingle during Padaca's visit there in November last year.
Reyes said Representative Dennis Arakaki of the State of Hawaii, US.A.along with their American delegations attended the formal signing of the Isabela-Hawaii twinning agreement.
The agreement came after the approval of the US Congress resolution no. 230, establishing the State Province Relations and Friendship between the State of Hawaii, USA and the Province of Isabela of the Republic of the Philippines.
The US House resolution was made in response to the resolution of the Isabela provincial board calling for a twinning agreement with Hawaii. (PIA-NVizcaya) [top]
