Commentary: PGMA's push for electoral reforms
Cotabato City (17 October) -- A strong executive and legislative consensus for electoral reforms is a leading part of President Gloria Arroyo's good governance agenda.
It is good for the Philippines in its aim to strengthen democracy and establish a stable political environment along side a bullish economy.
The Administration appreciates both houses of Congress for the prompt action on the bill on poll automation that will pave the way for a stronger democracy formed on the sanctity of the ballot.
It is high time to put an end to the mess of the past and bring the Filipino nation closer to the threshold of political modernization and maturity.
All concerned government institutions will continue to team up with the COMELEC on this front, even as the latter has signed a laudable agreement with the DND for the insulation of the Armed Forces from electoral process which finally removes as a source of protracted political controversy.
