Southern Leyte joins Garantisadong Pambata nationwide celebration

Maasin City (17 October) -- Garantisadong Pambata (GP) which is celebrated this week, October 16-20 will focus its activities tomorrow, Wednesday here, Nilda M. Rich, Provincial Nutritionist disclosed during a phone interview this morning. Though the whole province joins the celebration of the nationwide program of the government through the Rural Health Units of each municipality.

Garantisadong Pambata carries the theme "Garantisadong Pambata 4 in 1 Kalusugan sa Inyong Health Center " is expected to be joined by the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Nutritionist Emily Grande together with some of DOH personnel in Tacloban City .

Rich disclosed that the program, GP 4 in 1 refer to four activities that will be given to the 6-71 months old target clientele namely: Vitamin A supplementation, Immunization of 12-24 months old children, Breastfeeding and the Deworming of 12-71 years old children.

Rich further reported that they will also conduct information education campaign for other child health care program during the celebration as part of their GP activities like salt testing for iodine, promotion of supplemental feeding, oral health, growth monitoring and child safety. This will be assisted by the assigned health personnel from Salvacion Oppus Y˝iguez Memorial Provincial Hospital (SOYMPH) and the Rural Health Units here in the locality.

The main objective of the mentioned activity is to emphasize the necessary health interventions and to promote good behavior among mothers in taking care of their children.

It was learned that Garantisadong Pambata is a part of the overall Bright Child campaign that is being conducted two times a yea. (PIA) [top]
