PGMA orders measures vs fraud in licensure exams

by ES Subong

Iloilo City (17 October) -- President Arroyo recently ordered the officials of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Professional Regulations Commission and the Commission on Higher Education to formulate concrete measures to protect professional licensure examinations from fraud.

The President also proposed some legislations imposing heavier penalties for perpetrators of the crime, as she also said that authorities must avoid a repeat of the leakage of the June Nursing licensure examination.

Presidential Spokesperson Ignacio Bunye said the concrete measures that must be setup are expected to insulate all licensure exams and procedures from fraud, protect heir integrity and clear the way of any doubts on the excellence of Filipino professionals.

Bunye also said that the government aims to protect the integrity and competitiveness of the Filipino professionals and students, who comprise the most important resources of the country in the aftermath of the scandal-tainted nursing exams.

Further, Malacanang said that it is leaving it out to the wisdom of Labor Secretary Arturo Brion in consultation with the affected parties, the mapping measures to close this issues and allow the nation to move on in its equally vital affairs. (PIA 6) [top]
