Congressional migrant workers scholarship program launched

Legazpi City (18 October) -- The Overseas Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now accepting applicants for the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program for SY 2007-2008.

OWWA Bicol regional director Josephine Sanchez Tobia said the scholarship program seeks to provide benefits to deserving children of inactive Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who intend to pursue courses in the priority fields on Science and Technology.

An applicant must met the following criteria: children of inactive OFWs; not more than 21 years of age; currently enrolled as a 4th year high school student or a graduate of high school; must belong to the upper 20 per cent of the graduating class; parent’s annual income should not exceed P339,000.

The documents required are: Application Form (2 sets); 1”x1” ID picture; Birth certificate; Passport of the ex-OFW; Income Tax Return; and Certification from the High School principal that the applicant belongs to the upper 20% of the graduating class.
