Arroyo to unveil P77.977-M circumferential road, keynote 27th Camiguin Lanzonezfest

Cagayan de Oro City (18 October) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is scheduled to unveil the newly completed P77.977-million circumferential road improvement project and keynote the 27th Lanzonez Festival in Camiguin tomorrow, October 19.

The improvement of the 3-km. Naasag-Sabang section of the island-province’s 64-kilometer main circumferential artery in accordance with national road standards is expected to boost the tourism industry, as well as serve as effective linkage between the municipalities of Mambajao and Catarman as centers for trade and industry, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) district office.

Scope of work includes the widening of narrow sections, preparation of base, concrete paving and provision of drainage structure, box culvert, and slope protection.

During the unveiling ceremonies, President Arroyo will be assisted by Governor Pedro Romualdo and other provincial officials.

Shortly after, the President will join Camiguingnons, tourists and visitors in viewing a tableau presentation of ethnic festival dances—the Lanzonez Festival main showcase--at the Camiguin Tourism Center in Mambajao, the capital town.

At the same venue, President Arroyo is also scheduled to lead the opening of the “Ugmad 2006” agro-industrial trade fair, which also features hotel and restaurant management skills competition among many other contests and exhibits.

The President is also slated to meet and interact with local government and military officials. (PIA 10) [top]
