BJMP holds shooting competition in Davao City
Koronadal City (20 October) -- Region 12 Bureau of Jail Management & Penology director Emmanuel T. Siccio led an eight-man shooting team in the 1st J/CSSupt Antonio Cabili Cup held at Gold Cup Outdoor Range in Maa, Davao City.
The competition, an IPSC-PPSA Level I Sanction Match was hosted by BJMP region 11. It was a challenge between civilian/regular shooters and the lawman/military category which includes organic and active members of the PNP, BJMP, NBI, LTO, BOC, BI, Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force and the Philippine Coast Guard, a report reaching the PIA 12 office said.
The last day of the competition, also pits all BJMP shooters from different regions in an exclusive match.
"This shooting event is aimed at harnessing the proficiency of BJMP personnel especially in handling their issued firearms while enhancing harmonious and friendly relations within the military ranks and other law enforcement agencies," BJMP 12 CRS & Media Affairs chief BryanRoy Mercado said.
Team BJMP12 managed to successfully complete the five courses amidst budgetary and time constraints. SSupt Siccio bagged the championship trophy in the Regional Director's Match - Production Category. It also participated in the team versus fun-shoot and had won over from team Davao but eventually lost to the NCR shooters.
BJM12 assistant team captain SInsp Marlon Robles said, the team's overall performance is not bad for beginners or first-time shooters, "all we need is some polishing of techniques through extensive practice to become more competitive in events like this."
Robles also revealed instructions of director Siccio to facilitate the establishment of a shooting range in the outer portion of the General Santos City Jail compound. The range shall be provided with a safety course of fire for close quarter battle training and for the shooting team to practice for future shooting competitions. (BJMP 12/aca PIA 12) [top]
