Dengue situation in Region 12 still below alert level

Koronadal City (20 October) -- The Center for Health and Development (CHD) Department of Health (DOH) in Region XII says that dengue has not reached its alert level. This was bared by Dr. Baby Alah C. Bingno, Head, of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit during the Kapihan sa SOCCSKSARGEN.

Dr. Bingno revealed that according to their latest survey conducted dengue has not reached its alert level in the whole region. This is because of the vigilance, alertness and knowledge of the people on the ill-effect of this dreaded disease and how to avoid and combat dengue disease.

"I thank all concern government agencies, media and all partners in health and development for all the efforts in the information dissemination and campaign for the elimination of dengue and especially the people for helping and doing good practices like cleaning the environment to eliminate and avoid the ill-effect of dengue in the whole region," Dr. Bingno said.

Dr. Bingno also said that their office is busy monitoring and ready for any eventuality that may happen and to solve and give solution to areas affected by the dengue outbreak or any other dreaded communicable disease that may hit the whole region.

Generally Region 12 is experiencing low level of dengue outbreak compared to Metro Manila. With North Cotabato having the highest incident, because of vast areas and the many rivers and the low lying areas surrounding the province.

Dr. Bingno assured people not to get scared whenever there is an outbreak of communicable diseases because CHD-DOH 12 is busy monitoring and observing dreaded disease in the whole region. They also warned the people to be vigilant and report immediately to proper authorities if there are suspected outbreak of disease. The DOH is also advising the public to observe proper cleanliness and sanitation in their surrounding and destroy breeding places of mosquito to avoid spread of dengue and other communicable disease.
