Tacloban wraps up 17th National Statistics Month observance

Tacloban City (20 October) -- The celebration of the 17th National Statistics Month which was celebrated pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 and centered on the theme "Empowering Consumers through Responsive Energy Statistics", will culminate through a Closing Program on 27 October, at the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), Region 8.
During the culmination ceremony, key players of the energy sector will take center stage. The Regional Statistical Coordination Committee through its Chairperson Buenaventura C. Go-Soco, Jr. invited representatives from the Philippine National Oil Company - Energy Development Corporation, and the National Transmission Corporation to present and discuss the Philippine Energy Plan, the Roles and Functions of their respective companies, and lastly, the Energy Statistics that they generate.
The Culmination Ceremony which is sponsored by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and hosted by the DTI will be participated in by the different government and non-government entities most especially those that form part of the statistical community in the region.
The month-long celebration kicked-off with an opening ceremony at the National Economic and Development Authority, Region 8 last October 2, wherein representatives from the National Power Corporation - Leyte Geothermal Power Plant, and LEYECO II gave lectures.
Relative to the event, the different provinces in the region gave their share through the conduct of various statistical activities in the form of fora, seminars, statistical contests relevant to the statistics month celebration.
