PNP calls Karapatan claim of another "activist" killing in San Pablo City another propaganda lie
Quezon City (21 October) -- Eduardo Millares, 50 years old, was gunned down in San Pablo City last Wednesday. Karapatan, a human rights group of the Communist Party of the Philippines, immediately claimed that another "activist" was salvaged. It immediately rushed a statement saying Millares was another statistic in the long list of slain militants since Arroyo took power in 2001.
Millares, although a member of Kadamay, a leftist mass organization of urban poor residents, was involved in a robbery hold-up incident that victimized a cashier of the Land Transportation Office last August 9, 2006.
Karapatan continues to make martyrs out of ordinary criminals. It also pins on the military and police the death of militants assassinated by the Party because of alleged counter-revolutionary activities.
Task Force Usig says the CPP, through its special operations units under the NPA'S national operational command, is engaged in illegal drugs operations, illegal gambling, fake land titling, robbery hold-up, extortion of small and medium businesses, prostitution, and illegal numbers game.
Follow-up investigation revealed that Millares, as a Kadamay member, was engaged in raising funds for the revolutionary movement by means of kidnapping, armed robbery, hold-up and illegal drugs operation."
Deep penetration agents said that Millares questioned the small commissions his group was getting from their robbery operations. The CPP therefore decided to terminate him. (PNP) [top]
