"Let’s cha-cha," opposition mayor tells critics

BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (23 October) -- Mayor Pepito Balgos here has expressed concern over the signature campaign controversy hounding the proposed Charter change by the Sigaw ng Bayan Movement, affirming that the signatures gathered in his town are all authentic.

“I did not even move during the signature campaign because I believe in its purpose. I think we have to try it,” Balgos, also the president of the Mayors’ League here told PIA.

The mayor said the proposed Charter change is timely since it is for the good of local government units in the country. “If needed, I will file my affidavit to attest to the veracity of the signatures,” he added.

Balgos said he hopes that the issue on Charter change will be discussed in the coming convention of league of cities and municipalities in October 24 to 27 to drum up the needed support for the proposal.

“But for the meantime, we will wait for the decision of the court. I do hope that the decision would favor Charter change,” Balgos said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
