BONTOC, Mt. Province (23 October) -- To improve the living condition of poor families in the province, vice governor Benjamin Dominguez and Board member Bonifacio Magalong committed to provide funds for the livelihood projects of nine barangay organizations in the municipalities of Sadanga and Bontoc.
These two officials will share P20,000 each per organization from their 2007 development fund. Each organization will receive P40,000 in the form of loan without interest and payable in two years.
Magalong said these organizations will invest the amount in the livelihood project they have identified in their project proposal which they have submitted.
He said of the nine organizations, six will invest in goat raising, and one each on hog raising, sasso raising and weaving.
Dominguez said the project will be operated by members of the organization as a group. It will not be operated individually and whatever profit they acquire, they may even add as seed capital for their project to grow.
The projects will be monitored regularly by the provincial government. Any organization with successful project may even be allowed to extend the term of payment of their loan so that they could still use the money to expand their project, Dominguez added. (PIA-MP) [top]
