PIA Press Release

BFP Baguio to launch kiddie, junior fire marshals

Baguio City (23 October) -- “Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I will learn”.

This is what the Bureau of Fire Protection in the Cordillera would like to inculcate to children during the grand launching of the Kiddie and Junior Fire Marshals in the Cordillera on October 25 the Easter College Gym here.

F/Chief Supt. Jose Collado said the activity, which is in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd), will be graced by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Public Safety Marius Corpus who will be the guest of honor and speaker

Collado pointed out that the involvement of children in such organization will create their awareness relative to fire prevention. He claimed some fire incidents were due to the playfulness and curiosity of children. With this project, the kids will learn the basics of preventing fire and share the knowledge to their friends or playmates.

Targetted as members of the fire marshals are the elementary and high school students in the city.

The activity will start with a motorcade along the main roads of the City which will end at the Easter College for the program proper. Acting City Mayor Peter Rey Bautista will welcome guests and participants followed by the reading of the implementing order and background of the KJFM by BFP personnel.

Collado will do the presentation and turn over of the KJFM learning video and teaching modules to DepEd-CAR Regional Director Benito Tumamao.

USEC Marius Corpus with other guests will hand-over the certificates of membership and accessories to the Baguio KJFMs.

Collado said series of trainings will be conducted by the personnel of the BFP in all elementary and high school institutions in the City after the launching, and this will be replicated in all the provinces of the region. (fnm/PIA-CAR) [top]
