Cotabato businessmen vow compliance with sales promotion law

Midsayap, Cotabato (23 October) -- Representatives from thirty-four (34) business establishments in District I of North Cotabato Province manifested their support in the campaign of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here in complying the legal provisions on sales promotions among others.

Training on sales promotion was conducted on 18 October 2006 at Hill Park Inn and Residence. This is one of the Consumer Welfare Month activities in the area.

“Businessmen here are already into sales promotion activities here but we wanted to have more establishments to do the same so that it would make our economy livelier,” said Officer-In-Charge Socorro Amer.

Amer elaborated that sales promotion is used as a means to widen customer patronage and eventually increase sales, there are regulations and guidelines that the government impose on manufacturers, distributors, wholesaler and retailers in order to safeguard the protection of consumers.

Also, during this one day seminar, the DTI-Certified Establishment program was launched.

The DTI-CE program gives due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business, where consumers indeed get value for money.

“All retail establishments can join the program like supermarkets, department stores, appliance centers, hardware stores including DTI-accredited service and repair shops,” added Acting Consumer Chief Leonard Flores of DTI 12. (DTI-Midsayap/PIA 12) [top]
