DTI spearheads Consumer Welfare Month celebration in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY (October 23) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Caraga Region, thru the Consumer Network (ComsumerNet) conducted recently series of activities to ensure the welfare of the consuming public in line with the celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month.
Carrying this year's theme, "Enforcing Consumer Rights Towards a Progressive Philippines", series of public fora have been conducted paving the way for the consuming public to be informed on their rights and welfare.
Dubbed as "ConsumerNet Meets the Public", the fora was conducted in two separate dates intended for the utilities and the agriculture and services sectors.
The fora were anchored by ConsumerNet-Caraga, a network of government agencies and utility service providers whose primary aim is consumers' protection.
The activity also seek to inform the public, highlighting an interactive discussion on all the basic services, and updates of all ConsumerNet member agencies as well as provide an avenue for the public to raise their issues and concerns directly to the concerned government agencies.
On Tuesday, October 24, a seminar on Consumer Education is set to be conducted participated by residents of Barangay Ong Yiu, this city, and a Basic Consumer Service Skills Training will be held on October 26, while a Fair Trade Laws Seminar is scheduled on October 31 in time with the culmination of the month-long celebration.
