DDG Omoso briefs Dipolog staff on new PIA structure

By Franklin P. Gumapon

Dipolog City (23 October) -- Deputy Director-General Leon J. Omoso of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) has met Saturday with PIA-Dipolog personnel to discuss the status of the agency’s proposed rationalization plan (Ratplan).

Omoso said the Ratplan would be implemented before the end of this year and that those who applied for retirement or separation under Executive Order No. 366 would likewise receive their incentives.

According to Omoso, under the proposed PIA structure region 9 shall have more or less 23 personnel to be distributed among the provincial and regional offices. The regional office shall be composed of eight personnel with these positions: one Information Officer V as regional head; one Information Officer IV as Coordinator; two Information Officer III to man the planning and research section, and production and dissemination unit, respectively; one Administrative Officer IV as head of the administrative unit; two Administrative Officer II to serve as bookkeeper and disbursing officers; one Information Officer I to assist the regional coordinator; one administrative Assistant I, and one Administrative Aide V.

Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City shall each have three personnel complement with positions as Information Officer IV, Information Officer II and Administrative Assistant I. Four personnel with Information Officer III position shall each be assigned in the provinces of Sibugay, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Omoso also explained that the implementation of the agency’s rationalization plan is consistent with the government’s goal to come up with a lean and mean bureaucracy. (PIA) [top]
