Region 8 police ready for All Saints Day activities

Tacloban city (October 23) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Region is ready with contingency plans in connection with the forthcoming All Saints Day activities.

This was announced by PNP 8 Regional director Eliseo dela Paz through col. Cleve Taboso, the Chief of the PNP Regional Planning and Operations Division.

Col. Taboso said that the plans are already in place and have been communicated to all provincial PNP offices in Region 8. The Provincial Police Offices will in turn disseminate the information to the municipal police stations.

General dela Paz has ordered more police visibility, Col. Taboso said. Check points in major thoroughfares will also be implemented, he added, in order to check on any people who are planning to sow terror in the Region and to check on the possession of arms and ammunitions or illegal drugs. Detective deployment in the various cemeteries in the Region will also be implemented, Col. Taboso added.

General dela Paz also ordered the implementation of the Night Watch because the general observation shows that most crimes are committed between 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon up to 12:00 o’clock midnight . The Night Watch means that more police enforcers are detailed on those hours in order to arrest the trend in criminality, Col. Taboso stressed.

Last year, Col. Taboso informed, no untoward incidents happened during the All Saints Day celebrations. The PNP in the Region will not lie low however. It will always be ready to face any abnormal situations regarding the peace and order situation of the Region.

Col. Taboso called on the populace of Region 8 to be vigilant and to be very careful with their lives and personal belongings especially when going to the cemeteries or any places with many people during the forthcoming All Saints Day celebrations.

He said that if all the family members will leave the house, they must be sure that the house is locked so that unscrupulous people will not be able to enter and steal their valuables.

Finally, Col. Taboso said that the order of General dela Paz is for the Philippine National Police to do all it can to ensure the safety of the people who will be flocking the cemeteries on All Saints Day. (PIA 8) [top]
