6,000 cops in Metro Manila on Nov. 1, 2 - NCRPO chief
Quezon City (24 October) -- SOME 6,000 policemen will be deployed in Metro Manila on All Saints' Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2, respectively, a police official said Monday.
Police Director Reynaldo Varilla, National Capital Region Police chief, said the policemen would come from the mobile/foot patrols, Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT), Bomb Detection Squad Unit, and the Light Response Unit.
Half of the 6,000 will be fielded in 63 cemeteries and the remaining number will ensure proper traffic flow and secure malls and public transports like the Metro and Light Rail Transits, bus stations, and domestic airports, said Varilla.
He added that police assistance centers would be placed at the cemeteries’ gates for public announcements, particularly on missing children.
Varilla also said a re-routing plan would be released on Wednesday since traffic was expected to be heavy on these days. (PIA) [top]
