NVizcaya police steps up internal security operation vs terrorism

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (25 October) -- Police officials here said they have beefed up the presence of policemen in various towns of the province as part of their preparation to thwart any attack from communist rebels.

P/Supt. Ceasar Javier, provincial director said more policemen were added to the more than 10 municipalities in the province who are classified as undermanned.

"This is part of our preparedness and internal security requirement to foil any attack from communist rebels," Javier said.

Javier said the beefing up of police personnel in the municipalities will be backed by a series of firearms training.

Javier added that they have also requested the downloading of at least 20 newly-graduated policemen from the regional training center to augment the strength of policemen in the province.

According to Javier, the town of Sta. Fe has been put under high risk level of threat from communist rebels since the police station was attacked in December 2003, resulting in the death of a policeman and the carting away of several firearms, ammunition and medicines from the police station and health office.
