Iloilo City (25 October) -- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 6 is again conducting the Regional Search for Best Performing School paper Advisers for the year 2006, as its way of recognizing the efforts of paper advisers in promoting the growth of their publications, especially in the field of development journalism.
PIA director Atty. Janet Mesa said that this is the second time that the PIA is holding the search as an incentive scheme "to give recognition to campus paper advisers who have contributed time, effort and unwavering commitment to responsible campus journalism".
Each publication in the region is entitled to one nominee who must be recommended by the dean or principal, and must have served as school paper adviser either for college or high school publication for the last two academic years.
Over above all the other criteria, the nominee must have attended at least one of the Basic Journalism Seminar-workshops/conferences conducted by the PIA.
Included also in the criteria are the awards, citations and community activities of the nominee, and a writing test.
More details on the search are available at any PIA Provincial Offices, or at the regional office, telephone numbers 3377301 or 3376303, c/o Elsa Subong, Project In-charge. (PIA 6) [top]
