13 Bicol delegates join youth parliament
Naga City (25 October) -- Thirteen youth leaders from Bicol represent the region in the 6th National Youth Parliament being held in Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, Bohol on October 22-26, 2006.
The National Youth Commission (NYC) Bicol area office identified the Bicolano delegates composed of Maria Acela Padua (USI), Indira Tabo (Rotaract), Sharmaine Torallo (BU), Karen Rose Acta (BU), Crisanta Rodriguez (Rotaract), Ariel Guban (BU), Keeney Saul Crescini (USI), Ma. Cristina Laban (SLM-Sorsgon), Francis Belen (UNC), Rodolfo Virtus, Jr. (ADNU), Arniel Abenir (UNFPA), Gerome Atacador (UNFPA) and Rochelle Marfil (UNFPA).
Nydia Paladan, NYC Bicol area coordinator said the parliament"s objectives are to establish a consultative mechanism which shall provide a forum for continuing dialogue between the government and the youth sector on planning and evaluation of policies, programs and projects for the youth, to craft policy recommendation that would address priority problems affecting the youth sector, establish partnership among youth organizations, and to ensure greater youth access to NYC programs.
