Masbate City (25 October) -- A social worker of the city government of Masbate used the power of cellular phone to thwart a male resident of Barangay Batuhan here from violating a minor.
Police said the culprit, a 38-year-old farmer, sexually abused his own daughter, a grade six pupil.
When his wife confronted him regarding the supposed abuse, the suspect threatened to shoot both mother and daughter.
The social worker was at the barangay at the time and learned about the incident. She immediately sent a text message to the police office here.
A police team led by SPO2 Nathaniel Guadayo quickly responded and caught the suspect. When frisked, the suspect yielded a .357 revolver.
He was placed under the custody of the police, and the girl under the custody of social worker Ave Buncaras of Masbate City Social Welfare Office. (PIA Masbate) [top]
