e-Competition to showcase creative e-Concepts
General Santos City (25 October) -- An e-competition will be held on Oct. 28-30, 2006 at the Mallway of KCC Mall of Gensan as part of the 3rd e-Business Week Celebration.
This activity focusing on ICT related or electronic generated contest is being conducted to challenge IT talented individuals to come out and showcase their skills and talents to a broad audience of spectators from all walks of life as well as to the key industry players.
There will be 5 categories to be competed on: Auto Cad; Web-page Development; Speed Typing; Speed Transcribing for Medical Transcription Reports and Other; Quiz Bee; and Poster Making. All these categories are open to except for Quiz Bee and Poster Making which are for Secondary Schools only.
Web-page Development will be judged according to content, design, usability, and functionability of each entry made.
The Quiz Bee for High School Students will have two (2) elimination rounds to trim down the number of contestants. Only the lucky ones that passed the eliminations can compete for the final round. While the Poster Making Contest will dwell on IT-related concepts.
For the MT graduates and students, a speed transcribing contest will be done and winners will be guaged according to speed (40%,) and accuracy and completeness (60%).
e-Competition aims to discover talented individuals. It's noteworthy to mention that 2005 e-Competion's grand champion Marthin Anthony Millado is now pursuing a formal study in Animation. Marthin outwon his competitors in the categories of Original Character Design, Digital Graphic Design, and Digital Fine Art Competition. The world of animation production and design is currently being dominated by the Japanese but Marthin believes the Filipinos can even outshine them being naturally creative.
e-Compettion is a joint effort of the Department of Trade and Industry, STI, ACLC and Transcode One Solutions in cooperation with LGU-GSC and ICT Solutions Association of General Santos City. (DTI 12/PIA 12) [top]
