Children's Month celebration highlights intensified campaign for healthy babies
Cagayan de Oro City (25 October) -- As the city celebrates the Universal Children's Month, the City Health Office (CHO) has intensified its campaign to ensure the holistic growth of babies in the city.
Dr. Rachel Dilla, Assistant City Health Officer, disclosed that the CHO is now implementing the "Garantisadong Pambata" Program all over the city where they focus their breast feeding advocacy for lactating mothers.
They are also giving Vitamin A supplements and conduct deworming to children 5 years old and below in all health centers in the city. The office also continues its Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) which includes BCG, DPT, OPV, measles, Hepatitis B and Vitamin K to children ages up to 24 months. These services are available in the barangay health center.
Dr. Dilla also urged all mothers who have newborn babies to submit their babies for New Born Screening which is available in all the hospitals in the city.
In relation to the said celebration, CHO just conducted a refresher course for 32 midwives in the city on the proper handling of a normal delivery to reduce incidents of maternal deaths. (City Information Office/RAGCOM) [top]
