Palace orders purge of ‘ghost employees’
Quezon City (25 October) -- AMID reports of the presence of "ghost employees" in various government offices, Malacañang on Wednesday ordered an audit of all government agencies and corporations.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said the personnel audit was meant to "ferret out ghost employees in the organizations, if any."
In a memorandum, he directed Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya to "review the table of organization, plantilla positions, and conduct an audit of all personnel of all departments, including government owned and controlled corporations."
At the same time, Ermita instructed the Department of Interior and Local Government to strictly implement rules and regulations in the hiring of personnel and prevent putting of "ghost employees" on the payroll.
Ermita gave the two agencies until December 30 to submit a comprehensive report. (PIA) [top]
