2,854 hopefuls take civil service exams in Region 8

Tacloban City (October 26) -- A total of 2,854 out of the 2,921 applicants from Region 8 took the Career Service Examination-Paper and Pencil Test for Professional and Sub-professional levels conducted by the Civil Service Commission last October 22.

This was announced by Director Francisco Encajonado of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Region 8.

Director Encajonado reported that in the two testing centers in Region 8, only 963 out of the 985 who applied took the examinations at the Catarman National High School . Of the total examinees in said testing center, 820 took the Professional level while 143 took the exams in the sub-professional level.

On the other hand, Director Encajonado said, a total of 1891 examinees out of the total 1891 applicants took the examinations at the Leyte Normal University in Tacloban City . The examinees for the professional level totaled to 1,753 while there were 138 examinees for the sub-professional level.

Director Encajonado said that the Career Service Professional Examination is a three-hour test that covers vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analogy, logic and numerical reasoning.

The sub-professional examination, on the other hand, lasts for two and a half hours and covers the same subject areas except analogy and logic, and in addition, spelling and clerical operations.

Both levels, Director Encajonado said, also include general information questions on the Philippine Constitution, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713), peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection.

Director Encajonado stressed that passing the Career Service examinations will result in the conferment of either Professional Eligibility or Sub-professional eligibility which, among other requirements, is needed for appointment to corresponding positions in the government.

The passing rate, Director Encajonado added, is 80. There is no schedule yet as to the date of the next Career Service Examinations-Paper and Pencil Test, Director Encajodo informed. (PIA 8) [top]
