Mindanao Key Chambers denies signing manifesto of support to PCCI
Davao City (27 October) -- Mindanao’s “key chambers” who are considered stalwart in policy advocacy in their respective regions did not sign in a manifesto supporting the PCCI in their move to reconfigure the PCCI Mindanao Regions without proper consultation.
These are the Chambers of Commerce of Davao City, Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro City, General Santos City, Butuan-Agusan, and Surigao City. These key Chambers are assisting smaller chambers in their respective regions thus revitalizing the chamber movement in the island. Without their support, the national chamber might lose ground in Mindanao.
Other Chambers who did not sign the manifesto as reported are Mt. apo Davao del Sur CCI, Agusan del Sur CCI, Bislig CCI, Sulu CCI, Tawi-Tawi CCI, Basilan Muslim CCI, Davao Oriental Eastern CCI, and Lanao Sur CCI.
There are 15 Chambers who did not sign. If the claim of Iligan CCI president Sotero Trinidad, in a previous report, that 21 Chambers have signed the manifesto, this means that there are more than 28 Chambers of Commerce in Mindanao, as accredited by PCCI.
It must be noted that among the 21 Chambers mentioned in the manifesto, Pagadian Chamber is not affiliated with PCCI while the Chambers of Isulan and Lugait are practically non-existent as far as the Mindanao list is concerned. (MINBC/PIA XI) [top]
