Army opens recruitment for officer positions

Butuan City (October 27) -- The Philippine Army (PA) is now accepting applicants for Officers as the examination is scheduled on the fourth quarter of this year. The biggest among the three major services of the country's armed forces will be recruiting additional 250 qualified applicants to address the efforts of the national government in fighting terrorism.

The pre-written exam will be held in Cagayan de Oro City on November 9-10 for the Phil. Army Aptitude Test Battery. On November 11, an Army Qualifying Examination will be conducted while the Special Written Exam is set on November 12. These comprise the 1st to 3rd Step exam. Same set of exam will be conducted in Davao City on November 14-16.

According to Capt. Ferdinand Rondina, recruitment officer, the applicant must pass step 1 type of examination before proceeding step 2. Likewise, applicant must pass the step 2 exam prior to taking step 3.

For applicants in Cagayan de Oro City and nfeighboring provinces, the processing area is at the Army Recruitment Center (ARC)-Mindanao, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

In Davao, applicants may submit their papers at the ARC-Mindanao Extension Office at Headquarters Task Force Davao, 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army located at Quimpo Boulevard, Ecoland Subdivision, Davao City.

Interested applicants are required to bring original copy of Transcript of Records, Birth Certificate (NSO authenticated), college diploma and any valid identification card.

For Officer Candidate Course, the applicant must be single without child, graduate of baccalaureate degree with good scholastic records, at least 5'4" in height for male and 5'2" for female, 21 to 28 years old, no pending case in both military and civilian courts, and must be physically and mentally fit to undergo one year rigorous military training.

Applicants for Officer Preparatory Course must be graduate of any baccalaureate degree with good scholastic records and a graduate of Probationary Officer Training Course (POTC). The applicant must be commissioned in the Reserve Training Force as inactive second lieutenant. At least 5'4" in height for male and 5'2" for female and not more than 31 years of age on the date of Call to Active Duty (CAD) without pending case in both military and civilian courts. Lastly, the applicant must be physically and mentally fit to undergo six months rigorous military training.

Applicants with sight defect, abnormal birthmarks on face, cross-eyed, four adjacent false teeth, body pierce and tattoo mark, flat-footed, harelip and bow-legged need not apply.

Benefits awaiting the successful applicants include the chance to lead the men and women of the Philippine Army, job and financial security, free medical and dental services, chance to go on local and foreign schooling for free, pension upon retirement, scholarship grants to AFP dependents, and an initial gross pay of P17,000.00 for officers.

With this development, the national government is not only serious in terminating hostilities in the country but also bringing the employment opportunities to the Mindanaoan so that they will have adequate information to help them make better decisions and identify opportunities that could improve their quality of life.
