Sibulan's spicy cardisoma wins Lutong Garbo

Dumaguete City (27 October) -- The Spicy Cardisoma of the municipality of Sibulan was declared first prize winner of the 15 menus contesting in the 1st grand cook fest "Lutong Garbo sa Oriental Negros" which culminates today at NOHS Gym.

Whereas, Ginataang Steamed Chicken got second place and the third prize winner was the Ginataang Pasayan of Amlan.

The first placer cook, Angelita Licerio received P10,000; Ma. Victoria Morallo of Bacong accepted the P5,000 cash and Lucena Sedillo of Amlan, P3,000 plus gift pack and a trophy each from Oriental Negros Tourism Council.

The Lutong Garbo winners were proclaimed by the Board of Judges composed of the following culinary experts: Michaela "Micky Fenix" Macabenta , pinoy food columnist of the Philippine Daily Inquirer; Patricia T. Chiong, Sr. Vice President for Administration of the Philippine Air Lines; and Jessica Avila, proprietor of Chika-an Restaurant in Cebu City.

According to Ms. Sylvia Uy, Vice-Chair of the Provincial Tourism Council, the Lutong Garbo competition was a successful one so that the winner contestants can start now their own food business. Uy said, that even right after the cooking contest there were already orders received by the contestants.

With that, early as today, the Oriental Negros Tourism Council has planned to organize another competition on Oriental Negros beverages next Buglasan Festival 2007. (PIA) [top]
