BIR offers one-time administrative abatement

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region No. 14 through its Regional Director Atty. Estrella Martinez announces its offer for taxpayers from Leyte and Samar to avail of the One-Time Administrative Abatement of all Penalties/Surcharges and Interest on Delinquent Accounts and Assessments as of June 30, 2006 as prescribed under Revenue Regulations (RR) No. 15-2006.
According to Revenue Officer Paulina Buitizon, the tax cases which are covered by said abatement are delinquent accounts; 2nd installment cases; protested cases; cases with preliminary or final assessment; civil tax cases and tax collection cases filed in court; cases with pending request for compromise settlement and abatement; cases arising from failure to withhold taxes; and other pending tax cases as of June 30, 2006.
All concerned taxpayers, individual or corporate, or his authorized representatives are encouraged to take advantage of this rare opportunity and settle their delinquent tax obligations. Thru the one-time abatement process, the taxpayer will only pay 100% of the basic tax assessed. After settlement of the computed basic tax, all penalties, surcharges and interests shall be cancelled and said tax case shall be recommended for termination.
