Alay Lakad Naval chapter provides skills trainings to OSYs

Naval, Biliran (27 October) -- Just a month after the walk for a cause sponsored by Alay Lakad Naval Chapter last September 24, a total of 26 out-of-school-youths (OSYs) from the different barangays of Naval avail a three-day training skills on manicure,pedicure, and haircut.
Selection of qualified needy OSY and management of the skills training is delegated to the Naval Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) under Norma Bacordo, Municipal Social Worker of Naval.
Each trainee whose ages range from 18 to 24 is provided with a free kit containing complete accessories for use in their chosen skill. Everyone of them is also required to complete five models each day to be able to graduate from the training program.
The skills training has been going on at the Naval municipal compound from October 25-27 where the 26 qualified scholars utilize municipal employees and other interested individuals as their models.
The officers of the Alay Lakad Naval Chapter allocated the amount of P33,522 for the entire skills training program this year.
In the previous years, Alay Lakad Naval Chapter had provided skills training on welding to OSYs who are the primary beneficiaries of the Alay Lakad Foundation.
The officers and members of the Alay Lakad Naval Chapter also see to it that those who are given scholarship on skills trainings through the Alay Lakad funds secure accreditation from TESDA so that it would be easier for them to find employment which is the main objective of the Alay Lakad foundation.
This year’s chairman of the Alay Lakad Naval Chapter is Mr. Lino Severino who is the assistant provincial director of TESDA-Biliran. Being a specialist in skills development, the new chairman is expected to be concerned on skills development for livelihood and employment not only for the adults but for the youth as well.
