RP achieves economic growth for 22 consecutive quarters, say experts

By Rose B. Palacio

Davao City (28 October) -- Under the Arroyo administration, the Philippines has experienced an unprecedented economic growth for 22 consecutive quarters.

Presidential spokesman & Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has already bared her economic plan to bring progress to the country by increasing food production, improving competitiveness and modernizing infrastructure to speed up trade and mobility of the people.

The country's Gross Domestic Product and Gross National Product grew 5.5 percent and 6.1 respectively in the second quarter.

This assures us that our target for the entire year of 5.5 to 6.1 percent GDP growth is within our reach as what the President said.

As what the President said, there is no end in sight yet to the external pressures the country is experiencing.

The President is calling for every Filipino to sustain the momentum of enterprise and productivity brought about by the unwavering focus on alleviating poverty, establishing peace and rule of law, Secretary Bunye said.

We must continue to seek the great potentials of our nation. Faith in the Filipino will bring our fervent goals within reach if we would just work together as one nation, Bunye further said. (PIA-XI) [top]
