Nine business firms in Leyte, two in Biliran given certification and quality seal by DTI

Tacloban City (October 28) -- Nine business establishments in the province of Leyte and two in the province of Biliran have been certified and granted the quality seal by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

This was revealed by Mr. Joe Molina during an interview at the Panindugan TV program of the Philippine Information Agency recently. He said that these eleven establishments are the DTI Certified establishments in the Region.

There are three levels of certification, Mr. Molina revealed. The first level is the bronze level. This bronze seal is given to business establishments which have shown compliance of the Fair Trade Laws, have consumers welfare desk like a special desk for the persons with disability or senior citizens and have good housekeeping.

The Silver Seal is given to business establishments who aside from exhibiting compliance of the requirements in the Bronze seal have also social responsibility to consumers.

The Gold Seal which is the highest certification, is given to business establishments who have obtained the compliance certification of ISO.

Mr. Molina revealed further, that so far there is only one establishment in the Region which have been given the Silver Seal. This, he said is Gleen Marketing.

The Bronze seal was given to RL Appliance Corporation of Tacloban City, the Leyte Home Depot, City Hardware and Ultra Steel for the hardware category. For the department store category, Gaisano Tacloban was given the bronze seal while for the supermarket category, Nena’s Trading and Wilmar’s Supermarket were awarded the bronze seal. Bronze Seal was also given to IPCar Automotive Center for the repair and services sector.

In the province of Biliran, RL Appliance Corporation and Gleen Marketing are the recipients of the bronze seal.

Mr. Molina said that any violation to the requirements will mean revocation of the seal of certification. The assessment of the business establishment is ongoing, Mr. Molina added. (PIA 8) [top]
