DPWH, PNP act to prevent palay drying along roads
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (30 October) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) recently have stepped up efforts in banning drying of agricultural products along the roads in the province.
P/Supt Abraham Balderas, deputy police provincial director for operations said they have already issued orders to their chiefs of police in the province to prohibit the drying of palay and corn along the roads.
"This is purposely implemented to prevent any untoward accidents that these activities may bring to our commuters," Balderas said.
Balderas also appealed to the farmers and traders not to use the roads as drying areas with the onset of the rainy season where palay drying would be practiced.
He said they have already instructed their chiefs of police to monitor from time to time the roads in their areas to prevent the practice.
"We have also took into consideration the ordinances from local government units wherein there are also allowable areas for the drying of agricultural products by farmers and traders," he said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
