Community participation helps curb criminality, says PNP

LAGAWE, Ifugao (30 October) -- Active participation of the community is one of the best measures in curbing out criminality in the locality, so said by Ifugao PNP Director P/SSupt. Peter Ganir.
Ganir stated that people know better what is happening in their locality hence their active participation in reporting crimes to the PNP is one of the best measure in preventing the occurrence of crimes to maintain peace and order in the community.
"Recently, Junjun Dumangeng, 26, a frustrated murder suspect was arrested by joint operatives of the Provincial Police Office and the Tinoc Municipal Station with the help of the intelligence effort of the PNP and the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN). This development shows the crucial role of the community in solving criminality," Ganir stated.
He revealed that the PNP is conducting professionalization trainings to barangay watchmen to equip them the necessary techniques to help the police in solving criminality. The training includes arrest techniques, arm combat and other topics relevant to their functions as peacemakers in the community.
The Provincial Director also appreciated the peacefulness of Ifugao unlike the other provinces where he was previously assigned. He attributed this to the dedication and sincerity of the PNP in curbing out criminality. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
