Tagalog News: Red tide alert, shellfish ban sa pitong lalawigan

Koronadal, South Cotabato (30 October) -- Pinalawak ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ang pag-babanned shellfish sa iba pang mga lugar sa pitong lalawigan ng ating bansa, na una ng pinatupad sa Sorsogon Bay kamakailan,

Ang pagpapatupad ng ban sa shellfish ay bunga diumano ng pagkalason ng dalawa pang bata na kinasawi ng mga ito at labingdalawa pa katao na hospital.

Ayon sa BFAR, ang mga lugar na apektado ng red tide phenomenon ay ang Juag Lagoon sa Matnog, Sorsogon at ang coastal waters ng Milagros, Masbate; Siaton sa Negros Oriental; Dumanquillas Bay, Zamboanga del Sur; Balite Bay sa Mati, Davao Oriental; Irong-irong Bay, Samar; at Bislig Bay sa Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

Inihayag ni Gil Adora, head ng BFAR’s technical services, na ang shellfish at alamang na nagmula sa mga naturang lalawigan ay hindi ligtas kainin. (CGI/PIA 12) [top]
