Biliran NSO to unveil family planning survey results

Naval, Biliran (30 October) -- As the celebration of the National Statistics month comes to close, the National Statistics Office (NSO) here today is currently conducting a day-long briefing on the data dissemination of the results of the family planning survey conducted last year and other statistical indicators that need to be known by the concerned users of said information.
This was revealed by Rose Marie Lumbre, Provincial Statistics Officer of the province of Biliran in a communication sent to PIA.
She said that the activity is one of the highlights of the various activities lined-up by their office to give importance and to highlight the nationwide celebration of the statistics month.
She added that the data dissemination of the family planning survey results in 2005 will be held at the Governor’s Hall at the capitol compound.
The activity, she said, is attended by the officials of the different national government offices (NGOs) based here, local government units both at the municipal and provincial levels, non-government organizations (NGOs) and other entities.
Furthermore, she bared, that the need for explanation and dissemination of the family planning survey results is important because this will be the basis of the family planning and development strategies to be used in the next planning session of health officials concerned in Biliran in order to effectively manage population growth.
The day’s activity likewise includes reporting and discussions of the 2000 census-based projection in Biliran province.
The 2006 Biliran consumer price index and inflation rate will also be discussed in details by the officials of the NSO here.
The 2005 vital statistics report of each of the eight municipalities of Biliran province will form part of today’s data dissemination activity.
Centered on the them “Empowering Consumers Through Reponsive Energy Statistics”, other highlights of the National Statistics Month celebration in the province include guestings of NSO at the PIA Kapihan forum live over Radyo Natin-Naval, the only radio station in the province, of the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC), preparation and distribution of book markers in schools, local government units and national government offices based in Biliran province with basic statistical information about Biliran province printed on both sides of the markers and holding of the statistical quiz on air also at Radyo Natin where participating students who can call the NSO office first with the correct answer will be declared the winner. Prizes can be claimed immediately at the NSO provincial office.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lumbre disclosed that the scheduled 2006 census on population and updating of other needed statistical data is postponed next year due to the very limited time of preparation for the activities affected by the late approval of the national budget. (PIA-Biliran) [top]
