GenSan bats for continuing education for consumers on Consumers Month

General Santos City (31 October) -- Series of month long activities for the entire month of October are already lined-up for the Consumer Month Celebration intended to continue to educate consumers regarding their rights and responsibilities as consumers.

The activities are joint efforts of the Local Price Coordinating Council and the Consumers Welfare Council. Members to these organizations include government key players in the consumer welfare campaign such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Foods and Drugs (BFAD), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), National Food Authority (NFA), the Department of Health (DOH) and local counterpart, the City Treasurers Office (CTO), the Permits an Licenses Offices and the City Agriculturist Office (CAO).

The yearly Consumer Month celebration is consistent with the national government campaign to protect the interests of consumers, promote their general welfare and to emphasize the role they play in the vitality of the economy.

Proclamation No. 1098 of 1997 declared the celebration of the month of October every year as Consumer Month. (Luzvimi/PIA SarGen) [top]
