APO GenSan cleans up Dadiangas East Elementary School

General Santos City (31 October) -- Walking their talk of service, 15 members of APO GenSan led four neophytes in cleaning on October 15 the front yard of Dadiangas East Elementary School along Quirino Avenue, in cooperation with the Barangay Government of Dadiangas East and the Barangay Women's Association.
The cleanup activity is in response to the call for help by Barangay East where a Grade 2 pupil of the school reportedly died of Dengue Fever on the eve of October 14.
The young girl was the recent victim in the neighborhood. "Earlier this year a four-year old girl died of hemorrhagic fever," Marlyn Magno, the Barangay Health Worker here, said.
Magno said the barangay conducts monthly fogging activities "but fogging seems ineffective. We are encouraging every household to clean their yards regularly. Also, we feel that we need to cooperate with service groups like APO," Magno said.
APO brothers Amrauzi Macalangcom and Rogelio Singco, lead organizers of APO in Holy Trinity College and General Santos Foundation College here, said cleaning up vulnerable city streets is part of services that every APO neophyte from these schools will undertake, in cooperation with willing alumnae and resident members on voluntary basis.
