Koronadal Holy Child CIT studes win statistics quiz
Koronadal, South Cotabato (31 October) -- Two (2) students from the Holy Child College of Information & Technology based in Surallah and Koronadal City romped away as 1-2 finishers during the 15th Philippine Statistic Quiz province-wide elimination sponsored by the National Statistics Office (NSO) Region 12 and the provincial government of South Cotabato held last October 30 (2pm) at the PROTECH Center, Koronadal City.
The quiz show is the culmination program of the NSO in celebration of this year's 17th National Statistics Month with its theme "Empowering Consumers through Responsive Energy Statistics".
Genesis Godwino, a first year IT student of the Holy Child College of Information & Technology -Surallah bested eighteen (18) other students from six (6) schools who participated.
He was awarded a medal and P 5,000 cash as Champion, while his school received a trophy.
Carl Mark Escuardo, another first year computer technician student of Holy Child of Information & Technology -Koronadal City won as the 1st runner up, receiving a medal and P3,000 cash prize.
Likewise, Mel Rey Manait, a first year computer programming student of System Technology Institute (STI) won as 2nd runner-up bagging a medal and P2,000 cash prize.
Both Holy Child College of Information & Technology -Koronadal City and STI also received trophies.
The quiz is composed of easy, average and difficult questions related to statistics, in which each student were required to answer under time pressure.
The boards of judges are Director Juanito Cueva of TESDA Region 12, Director Jaime Paller of NSO Region 12, Director Merlita Canaan of NSCB Region 12. Provincial Population Officer Simforiano Farrofo, and Emmanuel Jumilla, PROTECH Manager.
The other schools who participated are the Notre Dame of Marbel University, Doctors College Foundation, Inc. and King's College of Marbel.
The regional elimination of this competition will be held on November 14 in Cotabato City, while the national finals will be held on December 5 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Metro Manila. (FCS/PIA 12) [top]
